چکیده

Health technology A clinical pathway for the secondary prevention of postoperative atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients who had undergone coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) was examined. The pathway was based on the administration of oral amiodarone, rate and rhythm control, cardioversion, and anticoagulation. Rate control, if needed, was mainly achieved with intravenous diltiazem and less often with a beta-blocker.

Ivabradine Versus Beta-Blockers in Patients with Conduction Abnormalities or Left Ventricular Dysfunction Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

Postoperative rhythm disorders are a serious complication of coronary surgery and they are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Atrial fibrillation is the most common complication after cardiac surgery, with an incidence of 30% after coronary artery bypass grafting (Camm et al.,2010). There are few data about the etiology of atrial fibrillation in this setting, factors such as int...

Prevention of postoperative atrial fibrillation: what is the best approach?

Atrial fibrillation is the most frequent complication after coronary artery bypass surgery, occurring in up to 40% of patients (1). It is even more common in those undergoing valvular surgery, especially of the mitral valve, occurring in as many as 64% of patients (2). Most episodes of atrial fibrillation occur within the first few days after surgery, with a peak incidence on postoperative days...

Cost-effectiveness of amiodarone for prophylaxis of atrial fibrillation in coronary artery bypass surgery.

The cost-effectiveness of amiodarone prophylaxis of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) was determined. A decision analysis using current hospital data and values from the literature was conducted. Under the base-case scenario, CABG patients received usual care (no prophylaxis) or 2 g of oral amiodarone hydrochloride over one to three days befo...

Comparison of the Length of Hospital Stay between the Patients with Atrial Fibrillation Treated with Amiodarone and Patients with Normal Sinus Rhythm after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft.

INTRODUCTION Postoperative atrial fibrillation occurs in 20 % to 40 % of patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting ( CABG ) and contributes to increasing length of stay and hospital cost . The purpose of our study was to compare the length of hospital stay between patients of postoperative atrial fibrillation treated with amiodarone (experimental) and those with normal sinus rhythm ( ...
